BENGALURU:  Some of the most useful conversations in cybersecurity do not happen in meeting rooms. They happen in a cinema lobby, over popcorn, in the few minutes before the lights go down.

That was the idea behind CloudSEK's private screening of Spider-Man: Brand New Day on 31 July 2026. The hall was booked exclusively for the evening, and the guest list ran across customers, partners, security practitioners and decision makers from organisations spanning the wider cybersecurity community, alongside the CloudSEK team. There were no product roadmaps, no sales conversations and no agenda beyond spending a Friday evening together.

An invite-only evening at the end of a working week is an easy thing to skip. That the hall filled anyway says something about the appetite for gatherings where people can show up as themselves rather than as vendors, prospects or names on an account list.

The half hour before the film

The most valuable part of an evening like this rarely happens once the film starts. It happens earlier, while people are still finding their seats, catching up with familiar faces or introducing themselves to someone new.

That is exactly how the evening began. Security leaders from different organisations found themselves in conversation with practitioners they had only known over email. Customers spoke to one another as much as they spoke to anyone from CloudSEK. The mood was relaxed in a way that is difficult to manufacture in a formal setting. Nobody was working a room. People talked because they wanted to, about the film, about work, about nothing in particular, and that is the point of an evening like this.

It is easy to underestimate how much these informal moments matter in an industry where so much of the day-to-day work happens behind screens and under pressure. An unhurried evening among people who understand exactly what that pressure feels like tends to build the kind of goodwill that a scheduled call never quite manages.

A short CloudSEK film, including a brief look at XVigil, ran before the screening and again at the interval. It lasted a couple of minutes, enough to mark who had put the evening together and no longer, and then the lights dimmed and it was back to Spider-Man.

A tradition the community now plans around

For anyone who has been part of this community for a while, the screening was familiar territory. CloudSEK has done this before, first with Deadpool & Wolverine and then with The Fantastic Four: First Steps, each time drawing the same mix of customers, partners and practitioners into a booked-out hall. This year it was Spider-Man's turn.

The film changes, but the thinking behind it does not. The aim is to set aside an evening that has nothing to do with deliverables and deadlines, and everything to do with the people who make up this industry. It started small and has quietly grown into something people begin asking about well in advance.

The films may change, but the idea remains the same: bring the cybersecurity community together without an agenda and give people the opportunity to connect beyond their everyday roles.

What began as a simple gathering has gradually grown into a much larger community experience, reflected this year in the overwhelming response to the invitations.

Community at the Centre

Cybersecurity is ultimately a people-driven industry.

Behind every threat intelligence report, security operation, investigation and technology platform are people working together to protect organisations and respond to an increasingly sophisticated threat landscape. CloudSEK’s approach to community engagement is built around recognising that ecosystem.

The Bengaluru movie night was a small but meaningful expression of that philosophy: bringing together people from across cybersecurity, giving them space to connect, and strengthening relationships that extend well beyond a single evening.

As CloudSEK continues to grow, so does its commitment to building and supporting the community around it.

And sometimes, building that community can be as simple as bringing everyone together, sharing some popcorn, and watching a movie.
